The Yorktown Standard

An Elevated Approach to Yorkshire Terrier Breeding

Nestled on our private 2.5-acre property near Jacksonville, Yorktown Yorkies is a small, home-based breeding program devoted to the beauty, temperament, health, and unmistakable spirit of the Yorkshire Terrier.

Our litters are thoughtfully planned, lovingly raised, and carefully placed with families who share our belief that welcoming a puppy should be personal, transparent, and meaningful.

Yorktown is intentionally boutique and high-touch. We are designed for discerning families who prioritize the complete experience— individualized care, careful preparation, documented transparency, and an enduring breeder relationship—rather than the lowest advertised price.

The Momma Care Collection

Just like people, female dogs have changing nutritional needs at different stages of pregnancy—and throughout nursing and recovery. Each stage places different demands on her body, making the right balance of important nutrients especially meaningful for both momma and her developing puppies.

Puffer's Pantry is developing a specialty collection dedicated to supporting momma dogs through every part of that journey—from preparing for a litter to lactation and the restorative time between litters.

Care that reaches beyond the nursery

Built from the Same Love We Give Our Own Dogs

Yorktown Yorkies, Puffer's Pantry, and ProvenPet grew from one conviction: dogs deserve thoughtful care, honest information, and families who are prepared to protect their wellbeing.

Nutrition Is One of the Ways I Love Them.

I love these puppies long before they meet their families. Part of that love is continually learning how to give our dogs the best food and nutrition I possibly can—at every age and stage of life.

Puffer's Pantry began with recipes created for our own dogs first: thoughtfully selected organic treats and wellness meal toppers, made in small batches in Florida. At Yorktown, every puppy receives complete, age-appropriate nutrition, close monitoring, and a careful feeding transition for homecoming.

ProvenPet · Verify before you buy

Transparency Should Protect Every Pet Family.

After our family's experience with Mako raised serious concerns about what we had been told and the records we received, I founded ProvenPet—the verification process I wish we had before bringing him home.

ProvenPet connects the facts for one proposed transaction: the buyer and seller identities, the exact animal, records, payment recipient, and pickup or delivery. The invited seller must participate, and the chosen payer is not charged until the seller agrees and begins.

Frequently asked questions

Everything You Need to Know

We want every family to feel informed, comfortable, and confident before welcoming a Yorktown puppy.

Ask another question
When can a Yorktown puppy go home?

Our puppies generally go home between 10 and 12 weeks of age, after they are developmentally ready and cleared by our veterinarian. The individual puppy always determines the final homecoming date.

How does the placement process work?

Begin with our application. We will review your home, experience, preferences, and timing, then schedule a conversation. Placement is based on the best long-term match—not simply who asks first.

Can I meet the puppies before choosing?

We offer FaceTime or video introductions, frequent photo updates, and carefully scheduled visits when they are safe and appropriate for the litter. Protecting young puppies from avoidable illness is always our priority.

What does my puppy come home with?

Each puppy receives a veterinary exam, health certificate, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, a microchip, transition supplies, care guidance, and registration paperwork when applicable. Every puppy also goes home with a thoughtfully prepared care pack featuring Puffer's Easy Bites soft treats, puppy-appropriate chews, a comfort blanket carrying mom's and littermates' scent, toys, Dyne, pee pads, and a sample of puppy food.

Do you guarantee an adult weight?

No breeder can guarantee an exact adult weight. We can share a thoughtful estimate based on parents, pedigree, structure, and growth, but genetics and development can vary.

Are Yorkshire Terriers hypoallergenic?

Yorkies are low-shedding and are often considered a better fit for some allergy-sensitive homes, but no dog is completely allergen-free. We recommend spending time with the breed before committing if allergies are a concern.

Do you ship puppies?

We never place a puppy in cargo. Families may pick up near Jacksonville, use an approved in-cabin flight nanny, or arrange personal delivery when available.

What do you feed and how do you approach puppy nutrition?

Nutrition is part of our daily care. We choose complete, age-appropriate food for each stage, monitor every puppy closely, and send families home with transition guidance. Puffer's Pantry treats and toppers are introduced only when developmentally appropriate; they complement—not replace—a complete diet. Families should make feeding changes gradually and consult their veterinarian about individual needs.

Why is ProvenPet featured on a breeder website?

Dr. Terri founded ProvenPet after her family's experience with Mako showed how difficult it can be for buyers to confirm an animal, seller, records, payment recipient, and handoff. That transaction-specific verification service remains separate from Yorktown. ProvenPet Life is the next chapter: a private family portal and lifetime pet record being introduced first through Yorktown. It does not replace application review, a written agreement, veterinary care, or independent verification.

Is Yorktown a premium breeding program?

Yes. Yorktown is intentionally small and structured as a boutique, high-touch program rather than a volume or lowest-price placement option. We are best suited to families who value individualized puppy care, developmental preparation, transparent records, personal communication, and lifelong breeder support. Puppy-specific pricing and written reservation terms are provided to approved applicants before payment.
